Greg Perry

06 JANUARY 2025, GENEVA – The Global Self-Care Federation (GSCF) has today announced the appointment of Greg Perry as new Director-General, effective 6 January 2025.

Perry brings over 20 years of leadership experience in global health and policy, with a proven track record of advancing public health initiatives and fostering collaborative partnerships to improve health outcomes worldwide. He joins GSCF from the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), where he held the role of Assistant Director-General. Prior to that he was Executive Director at the Medicines Patent Pool and Director-General at Medicines for Europe.

This marks a pivotal moment in GSCF’s mission to promote self-care as a key pillar of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). As Director-General, Perry will drive the organization’s strategic vision of integrating self-care into health systems globally, positioning it as a critical enabler of accessible, affordable and sustainable healthcare for all.

Manoj Raghunandan, GSCF Chair said, “Greg’s vast experience in pharmaceuticals and as a tireless advocate for more efficient health systems, better regulation, and multistakeholder approaches, will be instrumental in furthering GSCF’s mission to champion self-care as an integral component of healthcare. And I would like to thank Judy Stenmark, our outgoing Director General, for her contributions to GSCF and to advancing self-care.”

Stenmark has led the organization for the last six years. Under her guidance, GSCF strengthened its partnerships with key global health organizations, including the World Health
Organization (WHO). Stenmark has also contributed to the development of evidence-based
reporting, helping countries to assess and improve their self-care solutions at a national level, and the launch of the first industry-wide climate action resolution issued by the consumer health sector.

Greg Perry said, “Universal Health Coverage is a tough goal, but self-care is increasingly recognized as essential to achieving it. GSCF’s mission is to position self-care as a cornerstone of UHC. For example, by prioritizing prevention through oral health, tobacco cessation, nutrition,
and responsible use of evidence-based health products and solutions we aim to reduce healthcare burdens, close gaps, and build sustainable systems. Working with global health stakeholders to create the necessary regulatory and policy environment will be essential to achieving this mission.”

Judy Stenmark reflected on her tenure as Director-General: “It has been a privilege to lead the Global Self-Care Federation during such a transformative time for global health. I am confident that GSCF will continue to lead the way in advocating for self-care as a cornerstone of resilient health systems.”
