E-Labelling

Electronic labelling (e-labelling) disseminates product information digitally through publicly accessible websites, accessed via technologies like 2D barcodes or QR codes. This information, placed on the primary or secondary packaging of medicinal products, includes approved product details and may feature educational content such as videos and images. E-labelling offers significant benefits, ensuring information access for diverse consumers, including the elderly and those with specific accessibility needs, and supports the provision of information in multiple languages. In the consumer health sector, e-labelling enhances the appropriate use of non-prescription medicines by enabling individuals to self-select and administer these medications without a healthcare professional. Additionally, e-labelling aligns with environmental sustainability by reducing printed paper waste, important given the over 60 billion over-the-counter units in 2022. Adoption of e-labelling fosters a more accessible, sustainable, and efficient future for consumer healthcare, as detailed in the GSCF position paper and supported by global case studies and evidence.

This space was used to share self-care news and updates and to highlight the numerous initiatives their members took. Practicing responsible self-care was crucial in decreasing the burden on healthcare systems, particularly during this crisis. Self-managing symptoms through self-care helped relieve the burden on health systems while aiding individuals in alleviating mild symptoms.
