On 24 July we celebrate the International Self-Care Day. This symbolic day was chosen because self-care can be practiced “24 hours a day/7 days a week".
In 2026, we focus on self-care as the forefront of prevention.
For the first time, GSCF's new study, The Global Social and Economic Value of Self-Care 2.0, measures the preventive value of non-prescription medicines and self-care interventions. Its findings show that self-care in prevention is a best buy under constrained budgets, enabling wider access to healthcare and supporting individuals and societies to live in better health.
For decision-makers and policymakers, the report provides evidence to act on a better design of health systems and to understand what responsible self-care delivers for individuals, systems and societies.
