Judy Stenmark is appointed new Director General of WSMI

The World Self-Medication Industry (WSMI) is pleased to announce that Judy Stenmark has been appointed Director General for the association, and will start on September 1, 2018. 

Judy has a long-standing career leading global and national associations with her recent five-year tenure as the head of the International Osteoporosis Foundation in Geneva, and nine years leading Osteoporosis Australia.  An Australian national, Judy has spent the last eight years living and working in Switzerland. In this time, she established a strong network within global healthcare institutions, including the World Health Organization, United Nations, international scientific academia and among many global pharmaceutical and consumer health companies.  She will be an invaluable addition to WSMI, and lead the organization into its next phase.

WSMI Chairman Brian McNamara, stated: “I am pleased that Judy Stenmark has joined our organization as Director General. Her longstanding experience at the helm of a highly regarded global association, and her demonstrated leadership will bring valuable perspective.  I know her vision will be instrumental to WSMI’s mission of promoting better health through self-care and responsible self-medication. I would like to thank Bill Murphy, Ad-Interim Director General for his contribution and commitment to WSMI.”

Incoming WSMI Director General Judy Stenmark, stated ” I am delighted to be taking on the Director General role at WSMI. This is a very exciting opportunity for me to work with the Board, the members and staff to ensure self-care is contributing and enhancing health systems, globally.”

Mr. Murphy will continue to lead the organization until Ms. Stenmark takes up her new position.
